African Socialism
Today Africa is experiencing a critical social, political and economic transition. We are emerging from colonial rule to political independence; we are immersed in a massive transition in which we are seeking new identities at personal, national and international levels. Africans are struggling to build new societies and a new Africa and we need a new political philosophy -a philosophy of our own -that will explain, validify and help to cement our experience. In and around the world today there are millions of people and hundreds of nations engaged in a similar venture; the aims they have in view are not very different from our own, but we differ in tradition and background; their position and perspective vis-a-vis the challenge to be faced is not the same as we have. We are thus cast for our own role and we either live up to it or not.
