Ndlulamthi is one of the motive forces of the Hip Hop scene around Cape Town (equally and openly not mesmerized by leaving the city to do music elsewhere). He has been doing music and performing since the early to mid-2000s. Releasing his first body of work in 2012; Is’bhilivane (Love Letter).
Rootspring is excited to introduce The Cave Project, a double album of music, rhythms and lullabies by a unique combination of musicians: Percussion duo Intone – Ronan Skillen and James van Minnen Indwe - A singer and Xhosa-bow player. The album was recorded over three days in a cave off the West Coast of South Africa.
On a sunny afternoon in August, Rootspring arrived to set up for a field recording at the home of Ilsa and Neil in Zeekoevlei, Cape Town. Their lush garden that overlooks the wide banks of the river provided a relaxing atmosphere for the musicians to settle into their creative selves, whilst a bush of chameleons overlooked the activity from all angles.
